Samantha Shore a Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) practitioner based in Porthmadog Gwynedd says, “One of the most common reasons that people come to see me is stress and, in particular, stress at work.
During the initial consultation I explain why we sometimes respond negatively to stress and how SFH can help.
“There are areas of our brains that are very adept at dealing with the perception of threats and our negative reactions to stress are an evolutionary coping mechanism, which might not be helpful in our day to day lives.
“People who struggle with stress could find they have issues with anger or that they struggle with sleep.
Every negative thought a person experiences goes into, what Samantha terms as being, their ‘stress bucket’. As the levels increase, so the person struggles to cope.
Samantha explains, “Solution Focused Hypnotherapy helps empty the stress bucket by encouraging the client to be able to look towards positive solutions, which can help move forward towards a brighter future.
“A key part of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is the safe use of a trance state, which is a natural way to aid in the reduction of stress so that, after a number of sessions, the client can start to feel better placed to cope with life.”
Some clients have also found that it helps to improve their thinking ability, productivity, and confidence – both in and out of the workplace.
“By emptying the stress bucket, we allow the brain a greater degree for flexibility in being able to think positively, act positively, and interact in a productive fashion.”
What to expect:
Initial consultation
I will explain about the brain and how it affects us in the way it does so you have a full understanding of what is going on in your brain. My clients find that they have many lightbulb moments during the explanation as they relate to how they think and feel and understand why they react in the way they do.
I focus on what you want to achieve and it is always with a positive future focus . We do not discuss the past or use negative talk.
I then give my clients my personal hypnosis cd which is an integral part of the therapy that is played before going to sleep at night. Use of the cd will help the mind to stay focused and help the mind to find solutions between sessions.
Subsequent sessions
In the sessions we will work together in making progress, monitoring, scaling and using hypnosis until the required result is reached.
I will ask you to consider your preferred future, to build a picture up of how you would like to be when things have improved and to describe in detail what would have changed. This enables your possible solutions to be experienced and visualised and then worked towards manifestation.
After the therapeutic session you will then be guided in to a gentle relaxing trance which helps to consolidate the talking therapy . Using the cd before sleeping at night will support the work you do in the therapy sessions.
Subsequent sessions follow the same format and quickly you will notice how much better you feel and start to get the real you back.
My son had become extremely anxious before bed and was having trouble to switch off his thoughts. After one session with Sam he was given techniques to help him relax before bed, he was given a CD to listen to which completely relaxed him! He had follow u sessions and she adapted the techniques to suit an 8 year old. He's sleeping much better and is 100% more rested in the morning and feels and looks a lot better! Highly recommended
I suffer from tinnitus very badly, and it affects my life in every way, from mood swings to lack of sleep. Sam was attentive, sympathetic and professional and totally confidential. After a course of treatment, my sleeping improved dramatically and overall I felt more settled. Having tried various treatments before, Sam was the most successful and is such a pleasent lady to deal with
Having hypnotherapy has been so helpful for me. It's amazing how it has helped me change my daily habits and realise that I am in control of my life. I'm a much more positive person now thanks to my sessions with Sam. I highly recommend Sam at Shore Hypnotherapy.
I went to Sam as I was having trouble sleeping due to pain in the back of my legs. During the consultation Sam explained what happens in the brain and how solution focused hypnotherapy can help. Sam gave me a CD to listen to before sleep and I had 4 weekly sessions. I can honestly say Sam has helped me enormously as I now get a good nights sleep and am pain free. She's changed my life dramatically and can't thank her enough
I cannot explain how much this therapy has had a positive effect on my child and myself. Anxiety was out of control for my child, tried school tried GP no one was able to help. We were given support through the school but resources were limited so they could only offer the school nurse every few weeks. We decided to give Shore hypnotherapy a try as we had to try something. We had read a bit about it and liked what we'd seen. We were very sceptical about it and the world of hypnotherpy made us think of stopping smoking etc. But it couldn't be further from what we imagined. The therapist Sam was fantastic. She assured us that she could help and was so lovely and calm that is was the right thing to do. All I can say is as a parent I was worrying all the time about my child. He was miserable was becoming stressed full of physical and emotional anxiety and couldn't go anywhere without getting in a state. Now fast forward 6 weeks and its made such a difference. He is happy and is able to go out without having a difficult time. After each session he is so relaxed and calm and he now has the techniques he has to help him. Honestly if you do one thing today please give it a try. From a very grateful parent and happy child thank you so much.
When I first went to have hypnotherapy with sam I didn’t have any confidence and was tremendously shy . I felt lost in myself and and felt intimidated by some people. Sam explained about the brain and how it was affecting me . After a few sessions I felt a huge lift had been taken off my shoulders and after each session I understood how my thoughts were affecting me . With sams help I found a strength in myself I didn’t know I had and have continued to feel better and better. I feel much more balanced and my spirit has elevated. I now feel I can handle situations well and people no longer have a negative effect on me. I just admire sam for have such an on-site to people’s needs especially my own . I don’t know how to thank her for changing my life immensely.
Solution-focused hypnotherapy has helped me regain mental balance and contentment during the most difficult phase of perimenopause. I cannot recommend it enough to women in my position – or anyone else seeking positivity and strength-of-self under challenging and emotional circumstances.
The first time I spoke with Sam I knew I was asking the impossible. “I just want to be content with what I have. I just want to be happy.” But I knew in my heart it was too much to ask.
How could any therapist help someone like me in an hour a week for six weeks?
I avoided looking in the mirror because all I could see was a fat, old lady with uncontrolled menopausal anger and strife clouding every day and turning my life, and the lives of those around me, into a dark, dismal hell. I truly thought my marriage was about to end because every day seemed like an endless turmoil of arguments and misunderstandings. It felt as though no one could ever truly love me and that nothing I did held any value to anyone – at home or at work. I spent most days trying really hard not to cry all the time. The only thing I did know was that, at this point, anything was worth a try… so maybe hypnotherapy could help me. Even just a little?
Now, only a few months later, I have just finished my sixth and final session. During that session, when Sam asked me what my ‘miracle question’ was - what it would feel like to be enjoying the life I truly wanted – my response was “I am already living the life I truly want. It may be imperfect, but I have choices. There may be difficult days, but I can cope with them. There may be the occasional argument, when hormones take over and overwhelm me, but those times will pass quickly, and I can communicate how I feel to enable others to understand and support me. I love my home, my husband, and my life as it is. I am content with what I have. I am truly happy. My happiness levels are a 9 out of 10, which means I still have room to grow. And that is great too!”
Looking back, almost nothing has changed in my life. My house is the same. My job is the same. My husband is the same. But I am not. I have changed my own attitude. With Sam’s help I have been so completely turned around in my own thoughts about myself. And I truly believe every word of what I said during that final session. Deeply, all the way to the bottom of my heart and mind.
Solution focused hypnotherapy has brought me to an understanding that I am in control of my own positivity and if I’m positive it rubs off on those around me. I could have said that before but perhaps not really believed it.
I cannot recommend this route enough. It does not matter what your challenges or issues are, you do not need to even discuss these. This is all about remembering how great you can be when you’re at your best and taking the time to think about what is good about you and your every day. This is all about having those good thoughts about yourself retrained into your brain and actually believing those thoughts. Believing in yourself. Just sit back, relax, and let Sam help you formulate the positive words. It isn’t always easy, but it never hurts!
As a science-led writer and editor, I am in no doubt whatsoever of the genuine and gentle nature in the approaches used by Sam to assist her clients to find their own positive sense of self. She really does help you regain control over your instincts and emotions, and dwell instead in a world that is bright and full of hope. All you need to do is give it an honest try. I mean… why wouldn’t you?
Without a doubt, the best money I ever spent on my own health and happiness.
